My target is a staggered harvest of different fruit through the summer and fall seasons. I’ve chosen different species and different varieties in order to achieve that.

There are certainly a few alternative species or varieties I could have chosen to achieve the same effect, but the ones below are those I have personal experience growing already and love the taste of and know to be reliable producers in my climate. My trees for each month:

June– Goldkist apricot, then Blenheim apricot and Snow Queen nectarine

July– Red Baron peach and Burgundy plum

August– Dapple Dandy pluot

September– Flavor Grenade pluot, then Fuji apple

October– Pink Lady apple

The apples will hold on the tree into November or can be stored in the fridge through the fall.

I’ve chosen not to grow our own persimmons for December because there is a Fuyu persimmon orchard down the road that sells as “U-Pick” so we’ll buy from them to finish out the year.
