This post’s goal is to show in action, in real life, the application of the guidelines in the posts listed below. I know it looks harsh and you may think I’m sacrificing too much, but in my experience, this thinning pays off in the following years. This is me doing what I think is right for my trees:
You might find that such thinning also pays off for your trees.

Snap, snap, snap! Ouch! Ouch! Ouch! But I have to agree with your pruning. My Lamb is three years in the ground and growing mostly sideways. It had 8 avocados from last spring nearing maturity and in the last few weeks many leaves have turned yellow inside with green around the edges. I gave the tree some Cal/Mag and Iron.Calcium and yesterday some Ozmacote(*sp) Might be my imagination, but i took one avocado off and i think the yellowing has lessened on some of the leaves. After watching your post, I’ll take off two more and see if i can see any difference.
iI live in Modesto, Ca and have a 16 year old Duke avocado that is finally producing . How do i know when to pick them?
