Enjoy this video profile of an avocado variety that comes from Florida and is rarely grown in California. Here the fruit matures early, even earlier than Fuerte. In Israel, the Day variety has been found to be a good rootstock in some situations.

I recently received a gift of 4 avocados. The tree’s owner doesn’t know the variety. At first I thought they were Fuertes, even if a bit on the large side, and their skin is thin. However, as the fruit ripens on my kitchen counter, the skin is going from green to darkish green-black. The film on the seed also tends to cling to the avocado flesh. Any ideas of which variety(ies) are likely candidates?
