The funniest thing about touring Jacques’ garden each month is that when I arrive he always says, “There’s not much to eat this month, but we’ll see what we can find.”
. . . and this month I had to allow the video to be a bit longer than usual because there was so much to eat!
There are figs and papayas. There is che. What is che? There are pepino melons and jujubes and Fall Gold raspberries and Oom Sarel peaches. Can you pronounce Oom Sarel?

Great video!, his yard is like a nursery… Besides the fig beetles, looked like a lot of argentine ants. Those things are very fast and aggressive. Sometimes I’ve made the misktake of standing in them (unknowingly), and it doesn’t take but a few moments to have hundreds or thousands of them crawl on you. He mentioned rats, I’ve also seen a lot more rats this year than years previous…
I must have planted too many things too close together, he’s mentioned many items, Figs, Jujube’s, etc, don’t need much water once established, but mine seem to need a lot of water. Like the figs, I noticed this year, they were all small ( like grape sized or smaller ), and already turning brown. I started watering a lot, and things seemed to have improved, but I already lost a lot (they are very close to other larger trees).
Like your other posts and pictures where oak trees are near avocado trees and it stunts their growth and sometimes even kills them, I think I have similar issues, probably tried to plant too many things without having sufficient space 🙁
