Amazing. I had a recent experience using your tips and a Cinch trap. I noticed some mounds, identified a tunnel a few days later, set the Cinch trap and went back inside. When I looked at it through the window about 10 minutes later it already looked sprung and had caught the offender. Thanks for the gopher trapping tips!

Love it! I want one of those. Looks super easy to use, but what if its a gopher run and not that close to the den?

Cinch traps can be used in horizontal runs too, but the main advantage of them is that they can be set in the mound opening such that no digging is required. You just sometimes need to clear out or widen the opening a little. I do this with a hori-hori knife.
I had that model but it didn’t work for me. Not sure why!

I felt that way with my Cinch traps sometimes at first, but I decided to spend a little time attempting to learn to use them since I knew that many professionals preferred them. Mostly it was Thomas Wittman’s videos that I learned from.
Still, I continue to have periods of good luck when I’m catching everything easily and periods where the gophers are frustrating me and it takes many tries before I catch one.
I have to agree with Eddie. I have said on prior posts regarding gopher traps, no luck with these. I go back to using the Macabee and I get them every time. My friend uses the Gopher Hawk and swears by them. I can not explain why.

I also have friends who get the job done with other traps. I say you should use whatever works for you. I tried many traps before settling on Cinch. But there are a couple newer ones that I still haven’t tried so I might end up switching to something better someday.

I’ve never seen a Cinch trap. I used the Gopher Hawk, and after viewing online videos for the best way to use it, I tried it, and I got a gopher right away. It’s funny how many people have different little techniques. I would like to try the Cinch trap. Did you get yours at Home Depot or Lowe’s or……?
