Join me this evening (Friday, May 17) at 7 PM at the Oceanside campus of Mira Costa College for the meeting of the California Rare Fruit Growers, North San Diego County chapter (guests are welcome), where I’ll be talking about “Early season fruit tree care.”
We’ll get into irrigation: how to water here in spring and early summer compared to late summer and fall.
And we’ll discuss “summer” pruning: training young fruit trees by pinching in spring, and doing a first round of summer pruning in June.
If we have time, I’d also love to touch on fruit thinning and reasons for lack of fruitset.
Here is the CRFG North San Diego County website. Again, the meeting is at Mira Costa College in Oceanside, and it’s held upstairs at the Student Center building.
