Description
Gwen is a “grandchild” of Hass whose skin remains green when ripe. It has a flavorful flesh. The Gwen tree is exceedingly productive. (See more about Gwen in my profile here.)
Carmen is a variety that came from a natural mutation found on a Hass tree in Mexico. The fruit is very similar to Hass but it tends to be richer earlier in the year. (See my profile of Carmen here.)
GEM is a cream-of-the-crop avocado that was selected by Gray Edward Martin while working for the University of California avocado breeding program. It is a seedling of Gwen, and so it can be considered a great grandchild of Hass. (See my profile of GEM here.)

Our box arrived within 2 days and our avocados are ripening. It has been a daily treat of the most beautiful avocados. First both of our GEMs were ripe, they were gorgeous, buttery and smooth. Tonight we had our first of the Gwens, also equally amazing. I cannot express how lucky we feel to be able to share with this sampler family box. Thank you Greg. We are all enjoying them tremendously. The Taylor Family
