Hi Greg. Just like to say that I love your website, is very informative and I’m always trying to learn all I can on how to take care of my avocado trees. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with everyone. Also like to mention that I love your property with all your trees. It has always been my dream to have a small tree farm and of course adding some more dogs. I live in a house with a the biggest back yard in the neighborhood and of course with a limit amount of trees that I love to take care of. If it was mine I would use the entire area with avocado trees. But I been able to plant 1 Pinkerton, 1 Hass and there is 1 Hass about 45 year old that was original in the house. 1 fuerte in a por 5 citrus and 1 fig. I would say parity nice for being in the city. ( Laguna Niguel). Your information has been so helpful and I thank you for it. And I also like to know the right time of the year for pruning some branches of the avocado trees, specialty the bottom of them to keep the air flowing. The trees are in the lowest part on a cut of the land. Sore of shelter for the wind flow. Meaning the lower part of the trees, not the top. Ones again thank you so much for sharing your experience on the topic. Hope you have a great summer and I’m looking forward to learn more.
Hi Mary Ann,
I’d say you definitely have done a lot with a yard in Laguna Niguel. I’m grateful to hear that I’ve helped a little with the trees’ care.
If you want to prune up the bottom of your trees, you could probably do that at any time. But is always safest to do any avocado pruning — minor or major — at the end of winter, around March.
Thank you so much Greg. I will wait until March. I want to do it write. There my babies and I love to share the fruit with friends and family. Thank you again and have a great time with yours.
